Hollywood, Hollywood, Hollywood! Probably the largest parade of the year and we were smack down in the middle of it. With our 3 horses in tow, we were off to the heart of the television industry. For 2 hours, we prepped the horses. We combed their manes and tails, sprinkled a bit of glitter, and added bows and garlands to every nook and cranny. Cole sported a Santa's Helper Official Hat and Luciente got fashionable with some reindeer antlers.
After hours of prepping, we moved the horses to the staging area. Soon the gates opened and we were escorted to the red carpet. Cameras flashed and people applauded to the dancing horses (or it could have been because Charlie Brown and Lucy were ahead of us, but we are going to go with it was for us). The Hollywood Christmas Parade was definitely a spectacular parade to be a part of and we can't wait to participate in it again in the years to come. One of our favorite parades has to be the Hacienda Heights 4th of July Parade. The coordinators always do a spectacular job and we have a blast.
This year my dad and I were the only riders. With my brother in Michigan, my dad rode Luciente and I rode Cole. We both carried a flag down Stimson Ave as spectators cheered and clapped. Cars, horses, and bands were beautifully adorned with our nations glorious colors. Red, white, and blue sparkled from every corner as we celebrated our government and the birth of our nation. On December 11th, my dad, brother, and I travelled with Cole and Luciente to South Gate. It was very fun and exciting. I carried the American flag and for the first time Cole did the piaffe. I was so happy that the past week of training showed results so quickly. Cole was only learning the piaffe for a week and it was only ground training. He definitely made me proud to be his rider.
Unfortunately, this parade my dad did not ride with us. On the brighter side, he was our camera man for the day. Armed with a camera and a videocamera, he took pictures all day. For a person that just learned how to use the camera a few weeks before, they came out well exposed and pretty cool. I can't wait for our next parade in Hacienda Heights on the 4th of July :) |
